Matanzas province saw a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases, with an infection rate which went up from 438 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on June 28th, to over 800 cases per day per 100,000 inhabitants, on July 2nd, according to Giron newspaper.
By the end of December 2020, Cuba had experienced a 74.6% drop in international visitors compared to those that came in 2019. By February 2021, there had been a 95.5% drop compared to numbers in January and February the previous year.
